About Us
Who are Westcliff Strings?
Established in 2015, we are a family company in England, run between father and son.
The father has a background of over 30 years in sales/commerce, including owning a shop on Great Russell Street, London. The son is a violin luthier originally trained in violinmaking at N.S.V.M, now working as a freelance specialist for instrument setup/sound, and has also worked in violin sales for over 10 years.
Our house & workshop has welcomed instruments of all calibres, including by Stradivari, Goffriller and Gagliano, all the way to Lowendalls and Mezins – equally deserving of time and attention.
How did Westcliff Strings originate?
The son entered the violin trade first, exploring a mix of lutherie/dealing, and found that it was difficult to source reasonably-priced violin fittings from within the UK; requiring slow importing from manufacturers overseas.
It quickly became apparent that there was a serious market gap in this corner of the world for a variety of fittings that were affordable and quickly/easily accessible.
This inspired us to form what is now Westcliff Strings, allowing us to meet our own demand, as well the demand of others.
We pride ourselves on being price-competitive and maintaining standards for quality and reliability. We now supply to both luthiers/workshops and players globally.
